Goals and Purposes

A steering committee was formed to address the following needs for a public tennis center in the city of Midland.

To fulfill Midlanders’ 1967 vision.
To address the loss of 30 public tennis courts in the city of Midland.
To respond to a recent survey for the Parks and Recreation department indicating that Midland’s growing population warrants at least 50 public tennis courts. The City of Midland only has 2 tennis courts.
To address the growing obesity problem, increase personal health and character development.
To increase awareness of the tennis game to students, as well as the accessibility to public courts.
To provide adequate practice time for after school grassroots programs, as well as junior high and high school programs.
To provide lighted courts for working adults to enjoy the game of tennis.
To develop partnerships with Community-Based Organizations, such as Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, High Sky, Casa de Amigos, Head Start, Churches, Charter schools and many more.
To enhance the quality of life in the city of Midland.
To make an economic impact on the city of Midland.
To develop a landmark that will benefit many generations in the years to come.
