Goals and Purposes

A steering committee was formed to address the following needs for a public tennis center in the city of Midland.

  • To fulfill Midlanders’ 1967 vision.

  • To address the loss of 30 public tennis courts in the city of Midland.

  • To respond to a recent survey for the Parks and Recreation department indicating that Midland’s growing population warrants at least 50 public tennis courts. The City of Midland only has 2 tennis courts.

  • To address the growing obesity problem, increase personal health and character development.

  • To increase awareness of the tennis game to students, as well as the accessibility to public courts.

  • To provide adequate practice time for after school grassroots programs, as well as junior high and high school programs.

  • To provide lighted courts for working adults to enjoy the game of tennis.

  • To develop partnerships with Community-Based Organizations, such as Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, High Sky, Casa de Amigos, Head Start, Churches, Charter schools and many more.

  • To enhance the quality of life in the city of Midland.

  • To make an economic impact on the city of Midland.

  • To develop a landmark that will benefit many generations in the years to come.
